Project Germinate: Agri-Residential Landscape
A repurposed suburban picket fence becomes contemporary agri-urban vernacular. An ornamental landscape is transformed with edibles and a living sprouted straw bale fence seeded with native grasses and wildflowers. All of these elements change through time, evolving in relationship to dynamic ecological and cultural influences.
The letters of the word “germinate” spray painted on the fence correspond to timing of seed germination in beds, creating a visual invitation to passersby to engage in and view the landscape anew.
